Rainbow Valley Retreat is nestled along the banks of the Barham River in Apollo Bay, offering a tranquil setting and “alternative living” in harmony with the natural world.
Bioregionalsm and permaculture offer harmonic principals of growing food, economies, relationships and people by taking note of the environment. Our vision is to further harness and develop these concepts within the local community here at Apollo Bay with the hope that these ideas spread far and wide to offer people a more sustainable and economical way of living.
This concept will blossom in stages over time and our first project will be to set up a garden/food forest to merge with the natural habitat so local and indigenous medicine plants can be propagated and nurtured on the property along with eco friendly luxury camping/glamping accommodation and a communal workshop space so that the wisdom of these concepts can be taught and we have the ability to offer the space to people who wish to run their own retreat or workshop.
There is already a large amount of infrastructure and natural treasures that inhabit the property such as 4 pristine waterfalls, established walking tracks, a natural spring water supply, a large population of glow worms, a beautiful orchard with over 50 fruiting trees including heritage apples and a trust for nature covenant that protects the natural flora and fauna.
We hope that this can be a creative hub that will welcome artists, students and small business to foster further development of consciousness and sustainability. As the vision manifests we will be offering workshops, retreats, detox programs, vision quests, conferences, musical events, yoga, pilates, indigenous knowledge, organically grown produce, healing, natural therapies, community nights where we will host dinner and bring people together and more.
