Knights Ridge

WHAT: A 25acre mountainous farmlet in the beautiful South Hunter Valley - 1.5 hours north of Sydney. Knights Ridge is a "Third Place" retreat for all those family, friends and colleagues in the non-for-profit community and beyond.

BACKGROUND: The "first place" (coined by Oldenburg) is the home and those that one lives with. The "second place" is the workplace — where people may actually spend most of their time. Third places, then, are "anchors" of community life and facilitate and foster broader, more creative interaction.

PURPOSE: We are hoping the farm will be a place of rest, in particular, for those working in non-for-profit environments - who give much of themselves and yet don't get enough time away from it all. Overall, Knights Ridge will become a retreat for all to celebrate life through the natural beauty and wonders of God's land and people. ...get away from the city to a simpler place to reflect, love and relate.

APPROACH: This group is a "peer design" experiment to help grow the VISION through input of other likeminded people interested in helping us create our "Third Place" through suggestions, ideas or perhaps teaming with us to make it happen!
