Kittenpants Studios

Kittenpants Studios was born from the desire to create art that simply makes people happy. In actual fact, it came from my friends and family. It was a friend’s birthday and I decided instead of buying a birthday card, I’d make one. The card consisted of their letter, plus everything I could fit into this little space with things beginning with their name letter. The response was great and I continued to do this for friends and family for their birthdays and special occasions, until finally I graduated to a much larger scale - beginning with my nephew’s B at A2 (420mm x 594mm). These custom works were going so well that I decided to do this full-time which has been an absolute dream. I am so grateful for the support of my friends and family, and hope that I can spread the Kittenpants love further!
My background is in art primarily, having studied Fine Art at the University of Southern Queensland, Creative Art at Griffith University and Architecture at The University of Melbourne.

Process:
Custom works start with the client! Whatever they want in their letter - be it sport related, cartoon related or even in one case street signs – are represented within their letter. With custom works there is the option to stray from the ‘M is for’ (for example) and add elements that don’t necessarily start with that letter. All the client has to do is write a list of things they’d like. The amount tends to depend on the size (A3, A3 or A1) and letter shape.
From there I take these ideas and compose my hand drawn images to form the letter. Artwork is then professionally scanned and printed to make the additional colouring letter for kids (or big kids!). Additionally, with custom work only, comes the free Kittenpants Kit which includes colouring pencils and a Kittenpants Studios sticker. All work is carefully packaged and sent free of charge with signature on delivery.
Giclée prints are also available at a very affordable price. Artwork is printed on archival quality Hahnemühle Photo Rag. Two weights are adopted for printing which are the 308gsm for art prints and 188gsm for colouring in copies that are included in the Kittenpants Kits. Works are printed with high quality inks on a professional Epson printer. Other paper types such as the Hahnemühle Bamboo are also available upon request.

Additional information on the paper used:
Hahnemühle Photo Rag is one of the world's most popular fine art inkjet papers. It’s the paper that truly started the fine art digital revolution! It's everything you want in a fine art matte paper - acid free, cotton rag. It has a relatively smooth surface, not 100% perfectly smooth like a hot pressed paper but smooth enough that it's very, very slight texture does not interfere with image detail which is ideal for line work. It is a little more expensive than some papers, but in this case you certainly get what you pay for - a paper of superb quality capable of producing excellent art results that will outlast us all, when combined with the latest Epson pigment inks.
