In my journey from full sight to total blindness I have helped others to discover resilience, courage, hope and the importance of belief in a bright future.

Have you ever experienced something in life that was earth shattering? Something that provided a level of discomfort or so much pain that it continued to pull you down into a world of darkness? I experienced that and I felt like there was no way I would ever see the light again.

Being 39 years old, anyone would feel like there is so much of the world and life still left to see. When a doctor told me that I only had a short time left before an incurable disease would take over my sight, I was totally shocked. From that moment, every time I saw my wife Elizabeth or my son Grant, I knew there was a possibility that it could be the last time.

Once the final stages of the disease took over my sight everything changed, I had to re-learn life's most basic skills in a world of darkness. It was tough but by following 5 basic steps and having a support network around me I was able to move forward and build a life of mobility and independence.

It amazes me to think how much we take our vision and other good things in life for granted and this is why I wanted to share my experiences, on stage to audiences around the world, to ensure people understand that there is a life for each and everyone to live. My message will provide you with the understanding that you can take control of your life and all that is required is for you to make conscious decisions to see it fulfilled.
