I started learning all sorts of crafts at a very early age. By the age of 12 the quality and design of my handiwork gave my parents enough confidence to invest in a piece of brand new cotton big enough to make a tiered lambada skirt and a matching corset top (the glorious 80-ies…).
Since then I never stopped making things. I was sewing and knitting through my teen years since we couldn’t buy clothes (I did live in the post-Soviet Union space after all). I sewed through my twenties because I realized I hated wearing things other people wore and my friends started asking me to make something for them. In my thirties friends of friends started asking for custom orders … and eventually making clothes became a sort of addiction.
Lately I fell in love with vintage fashions and accumulated an impressive collection of outfits made after genuine patterns dating back to 1940’s through to late 1960’s. Have a look at samples in the display book or my Etsy shop (KatyaStratfordStudio). The range of clothes is representative but not limited to what you see there.
