What is Gestalt Psychotherapy?

GESTALT PSYCHOTHERAPY is an existential, experiential, holistic form of psychotherapy that emphasises personal responsibility and that focuses upon the individuals experience in the present moment, the client therapist -relationship, the environment and social context of a person's life, and the self regulating adjustments people make as a result of their overall situation. Gestalt Practice is based on FIELD- ORIENTATED framework and methodology that appreciates the individual in their entirety. From this holistic perspective, the Gestalt practicioner understands the interconnected nature between how the individual makes contact with the environment, and the unique field of exprience (past, present and future) tha torganisesthen in that interaction. The Gestalt practicioner enters into a relationship with the other that is based on respect and equality ( I_THOU relationship), The other is considered the expert on them selves rather than the Gestalt Therapist. The wisdom in the other is encouraged and bought to the foreground.
