Josh Haines isn’t your typical photographer.

He finds beauty where others wouldn’t think to look. And his unique style sees his work journey beyond photography and into the realm of art.

Starting out with a basic camera, Josh took every opportunity to photograph people and places that appealed to him.

Being involved in the local music scene gave him access to musicians and artists in their rawest form, and his flair for capturing and emphasising the dark and mysterious ensued.

The result is dramatic, dynamic imagery that highlights and celebrates the creativity and uniqueness of every individual.

Specialising in strobe photography, Haines’ style is ideal for high fashion, modelling, the arts and events.

“Where ever the action’s happening, I like to be a part of it,” he says.

“If people are involved, there’s always something interesting to work with.”

Haines enjoys working one on one with individuals to explore the most imaginative and creative concepts, but can perform with skill and ease in any situation.

As a photographer for DarwinLife Magazine, he has photographed everything from front cover portraits to double-page landscapes, and does so with an unparalleled level of enthusiasm and intrigue.

“I like the challenge of capturing different images, and finding new locations to shoot is always a part of that challenge,” he says.

“Being a freelancer there’s no such thing as a normal day on the job.”

And that’s just how he likes it, with the demand for the unexpected giving rise to new and exciting ideas in his work on a daily basis.

“Getting out of your comfort zone really opens you up, it pushes you to create some exciting stuff.”
