What is a Cheesesteak?

A cheesesteak is made up of thinly sliced beef and melted cheese on a long hoagie roll. Common toppings include fried onions and American cheese sauce. Cheesesteak was invented by a hot dog vendor in South Philadelphia back in the 1930s when he decided to grill some beef from the butcher and put it on an Italian roll. A cab driver caught a whiff and insisted to try the steak sandwich. Word spread rapidly through the cabbie and drivers from all over the city soon visited the hotdog vendor for steak sandwiches. Cheese was added to the mix in the 40's and this is how it all started.

Our dream started in 2015, the dream to bring American style food to Brisbane. Due to the lack of choices in Brisbane, we were compelled to take charge and developed our own. With endless hours spent in finding and matching the perfect ingredients, we have finally created a taste that melts in your mouth. The first Jo's original OG cheesesteak was created in 2016 and it was simply too good to keep to ourselves. Jo's Cheesesteaks is proud to announce that we finally have our own stall at the Kuraby Farmer's markets and we hope to continuously bring new foods to the people of Brisvegas.
