The word 'holistic' is coined from the Greek word 'holos', meaning 'whole' or 'complete'.
Holistic healing is based on the theory that one element of a person can not be healthy without all of the other aspects of a person being in balance. To treat holistically is to consider the WHOLE person - body, mind, spirit and emotions.
Holistic Counselling is a unique, individual-centred approach to counselling, which focuses on a person in their entirety and looks at the interconnectedness of the body, mind, spirit and emotions to help facilitate balance and wellness. As a holistic counsellor, my role is to assist you in bringing balance into your whole life and ensure that you are in touch with your own needs on a holistic level. I will not give advice, rather i will provide a supportive sounding board and help you to decide what you want to create for yourself. I will assist you to identify the areas of your life that needs improvement with a holistic view point, help to set goals and plan achievable ways to reach your goals, and to support and encourage you to reach the goals you have set for yourself. I will provide you with an eclectic array of practical tools and exercises you can use for yourself to become self-empowered, more confident and well armed to clearly identify your needs and achieve your goals. The tools that i will provide you with will assist you to unlock your own potential, become more positive, feel and be more in control of your thinking and your life, become less affected by stress, gain a clearer view of your personal situation and develop strategies for making positive, self-governed changes in your life. Holistic counselling is goal-oriented with a framework involving tasks for you to complete towards actual goal outcomes. Therefore, every week you will receive homework in the form of self-empowering exercises to do, which will be something productive to do that will contribute to your growth and journey of self-discovery between sessions. In this way, you are taking self-empowered affirmative action towards fixing your own problems and bringing more balance into your life.
The application of Meditation as a healing tool for both psychological and physiological conditions is infinite. Medical research has proven that Meditation lowers the heart rate and reduces blood pressure. The connection between mental calm and physical wellness has been established through clinical research into Mind-Body Medicine. That which ancient cultures have long known, is now generally accepted throughout the western world; Meditation when practiced on a regular basis not only promotes happiness through developing a calmer mind but improves physical health, prevents disease and can cure illness.
