OUR PROUD HISTORY
Collaroy is 22 kilometers north east of the Sydney CBD, The beach was named after the ship S.S. Collaroy which was beached there in September 1880, and was stuck there for four years, although the locals didn’t start to call the area Collaroy until the 1900s.
In the early 1900s, the Northern Beaches area was becoming a prevalent tourist destination. The stretch of beach from Collaroy to North Narrabeen was popular to swim and in August 1911 Collaroy Surf Life Saving Club was formed.
With Most of Collaroy’s development occurring in the mid twentieth century. One of Collaroy’s first houses “Chez Nous” in Frazer St, Collaroy, was built in 1917. Local Post Office opened in 1923. The Subdivision for Collaroy Plateau were released in the 1950s and booming Beachside apartments were constructed from the early 1960’s and late 1970’s.

Collaroy's shopping precinct is centred along Pittwater Road, Small boutique retail businesses include cafes, restaurants, takeaway’s, bars, a pharmacy, a newsagent/post office, hairdressers, Day spa, Collaroy cinema, the Collaroy Services club (also known as "The Beach Club") and "The Collaroy", which was formerly known as the Surf Rock Hotel, re-opened in November 2014.

The choice of swimming spots between Fisherman’s beach, the aquatic reserve, the surf at Collaroy beach and the rock pool, Locals love the walk up and around Long Reef headland and 18 hole Golf course, off-leash dog park, tennis club, new Beach Park playground. Mixture of Youth and family friendly sentiment, Quality primary schools and proximity to all the spoils of the Northern Beaches.
