The Huon Valley Councils Children’s Services Unit offers a wide range of care options to families in the Huon Valley.

Centre Based Care
The Council provides early learning and care centres at 3 locations in the Huon Valley. The programs don’t operate on public holidays.

Huonville - The Cottage
91-93 Main Street, Huonville
• The Centre is open weekdays from 7.30am to 6pm
• Casual and permanent places are available.
• Caters for children 6 weeks to 12 years of age.
• Morning and afternoon tea is provided.
• Separate baby room.

Dover Child Care
17 Chapman Avenue, Dover
• The Centre is open weekdays from 8.15am to 5.15pm
• Casual and permanent places are available.
• Caters for children 6 weeks to 7 years of age.
• Family groupings.

Geeveston Early Learning & Care
4879 Huon Hwy, Geeveston
• The Centre is open weekdays from 7.30am to 6.00pm
• Casual and permanent places are available.
• Caters for children 6 weeks to 12 years of age.
• Family groupings.

After School Care
The Council provides after school care at 91-93 Main Street, Huonville.

After school care operates from 3pm - 6pm on weekdays during the public school term. The program caters for children 5 to 12 years of age.

Afternoon tea is provided as part of the fee. Children are collected from Huonville Primary School daily as well as from bus stops for children attending other schools.


Vacation Care
The Council provides vacation care during public school holidays from 91-93 Main Street, Huonville. Vacation care is available weekdays from 8am - 6pm and caters for children 5 years to 12 years of age. Morning and afternoon tea, excursions and special entertainment is provided as part of the daily fee.


School Readiness Program
A school readiness program is incorporated into your child's daily program in each of the 3 early learning and care centres.

Children’s programs cater for children attending kindergarten the following year and is designed to support their independence and prepare them for school. Visits to local kindergartens are included in the third term.
