More about Hume and Hovell Track

Discover the natural attractions of the South West Slopes of New South Wales, explore rugged bushland or visit one of many picnic and camping trackheads.
Stretching 426km between Yass and Albury, the track retraces the famous footsteps of Hamilton Hume and William Hovell on their 1824 expedition to Port Phillip.
The three major trackheads, Fitzpatrick, Thomas Boyd and Henry Angel, offer excellent car-based camping, with varied and interesting day walks in either direction from the trackhead. For the more experienced hiker, 17 campsites have been developed at a days walking distance apart.
The track was developed as a Bicentennial project in 1988 and is maintained by Crown Lands, with the assistance and cooperation of Forestry NSW and the National Parks and Wildlife Service.
