hope springs is a community-based psychosocial rehabilitation service, also providing pastoral care, for people with mental illness, acquired brain injury, and other disabilities. We aim to provide a supportive environment, creative activities and hospitality in a “safe”, non-judgmental environment. We have trained staff and volunteers who are understanding and supportive, discuss issues of relevance to participants, “be there” for them, and provide linkage to other services.

We promote mental and spiritual health, healing, social belonging, mutual support and self-help, creativity and enjoyment through hospitality and acceptance of people as they are; that is, on their road to recovery.

One in five people in every part of our society are affected by mental illness. Often there are great personal, social and financial costs. Ongoing support and care of the person recovering from mental illness may be shared by clinicians, family, partners, friends and organisations such as hope springs- people who believe in, and stand by their loved one.

Our programs include Open Canvas Art Group, Music Group, Walking Group, Springboard activities, Drop-in (including a women’s-only drop-in). On Thursdays there is Worship on Thursdays (WOT), a small informal church gathering for folks who find this more appealing than more conventional church services. We also have a carer’s group in Eltham that meets monthly.
