Hope Centre

The House of Hope Food Barn is the most accessed charity in the Illawarra. Our mission is to assist the disadvantaged members of the community to get back into mainstream society, to balance the cost of living and their finances independently, to enter or return to the workforce and to get off welfare. Our goal is to eliminate the barriers and the pain that poverty, hunger and skill deficiency imposes on people.

Through our House of Hope Recovery Centre we provide a number of services to assist the community through our Twelve Step Recovery Program, Men’s Shed, Men’s Health, Basic Skill Groups and Accredited Certificate II in Hospitality Courses. Professional welfare and Counseling and a Centrelink Officer is available on Fridays for free advice for our clients.

The Food Barn provides groceries, produces, bread and other personal and household necessities. Through our welfare department we supply and distribute fresh home cooked style meals and welfare packages to our welfare clients and referrals from other agencies at no charge. At present we have assisted more than 70,000 clients in the Illawarra, most of whom are families.
