More about Holy Cross Rhinos

When local Ryde league identity Robert Godfrey began coaching his first team of under 8s in 1961, he couldn’t have imagined the legacy he was setting in place.
Half a century on, the Holy Cross Rhinos stand tall as a true Balmain DJRL success story.
In 2010, the club boasted 260 players in 18 teams ranging from Under 6s to Under 19s. Whilst growing all the time, it can also look back proudly on some wonderful achievements - champion players have been produced, competitions have been won, lifelong friendships have been forged, valuable lessons learned and outstanding deeds performed.
In the background, the Rhinos have helped extend and enrich a mighty century-old connection between the great game of rugby league, Holy Cross College, the Ryde community and beyond.
As 2011 approaches, big things are in the pipeline to help celebrate the club's 50th birthday. Behind the scenes, the club executive has reactivated its long dormant life membership program. As a result, not just one or two but a group of through-and-through Rhino folk are likely soon to receive the recognition they richly deserve. Plans are afoot to mark the occasion with a major anniversary function, probably in the shape of a formal dinner.
Preparations are also in place to undertake some of the renovative tasks the club needs done, as well as explore the possibility of upgrading our infrastructure.
On the field, the Rhinos will also receive a facelift, with a brand new playing strip. The jumper, which retains our traditional maroon and gold, also incorporates a white base and an all new design.
