The Hobsons Bay Toy Library was one of the first toy libraries in Australia, beginning as Williamstown Educational Toy Library in 1976, becoming Newport Toy Library in 1988, and then Hobsons Bay Toy Library in 1995.
The Newport Branch of the Hobsons Bay Toy Library is now one of largest and most sophisticated toy libraries in Victoria, with over 200 member families, three paid Co-ordinators and more than 1,600 fun and educational toys in the collection.
The toy library is a not-for-profit organisation, run by a committee of volunteers and relies upon community support for its success.
