More about Coach Lester - Strength & Conditioning

Steve has developed skills to cater to all fitness levels, and has gained valuable experience working alongside Anthony Koutoufides, a former Carlton AFL footballer. Through Anthony’s fitness organisation he has learned from the ground up how to train and inspire members of the community in achieving their individual health objectives. These skills comprise improving fitness and well-being, motivating people to exercise, and educating clients on the importance of nutrition.

Also, has a strong sporting background playing football (AFL) and cricket, and since his early youth playing both games the year round. His interest in sports has lead him to fitness coach roles at ‘Dynamic Footy’ skills development, and the Northern Knights (TAC), which consists of training young athletes in improving their fitness, general skills, and all round performance in AFL.
He has also been involved in coaching roles at representative cricket level.

This sporting background and education have allowed Steve to understand the demands of obtaining and maintaining the optimal performance of many types of sporting individuals, both physically and mentally.

Training Methods:
-Improve Work Capacity
A well-conditioned athlete handles high-quality work and recovers quickly.

-Improve "Core Strength."
A well-conditioned athlete has the low back, abdominal, and hip area (core) strength to transfer the force generated by the legs to the upper body. Most sports require a huge hip power transfer in different planes of motion.

-Develop Balanced Muscular Strength, Speed, Endurance, and Power.
A well-conditioned athlete trains the total body for strength, speed, power, and endurance. Movements in most sports occur in all planes, so it is important to train accordingly. Athletes must be balanced to help prevent injury and maximise physical fitness.

-Develop Sports Specific Speed, Strength and Power.
A well-conditioned athlete reacts quickly to accelerate, decelerate and stop under control. An athlete who can decelerate, stop, change direction and re-accelerate has an advantage over their opponents.
