Herry's Harvest

Herry's Harvest is a small vegetable farm five minutes out of Wangaratta. The first crop, garlic, was offered for sale at the farm gate in late December of 2016. However planning and setup work commenced in 2015.

The farm was started by myself, Jack Herry, with plenty of help from friends, family and community members.

Ethos, huh? Organic, biodynamic, permaculture or what?

I am not dogmatic, and don't try to adhere to a strict doctrine. I keep an open mind, and consider each decision anew. Striving for a more sustainable way of doing things, perhaps the farm takes most from permaculture's very broad philosophy of Earth care, people care, fair share - allowing these fundamental principles to be a guide.

Certified? Nope. As I do not intend (nor believe it to be a desirable thing) to sell to customers who do not have easy access to visit the farm (i.e. people within about 20 k's), and see with their own eyes the way things are grown, talking to me the farmer about their food, I do not see it as necessary to involve a third party (i.e certification body) to act the go-between in the relationship of farmer and food-eater. That arrangement is 'necessary' only where the consumer has no easy access to open and honest information on the source of the food they eat.

Herry's Harvest is not that kind of food source.

The farm is run with an open and honest approach. Do not hesitate to get in touch and find out more about the food you eat. Any aspect of the farms operation is open knowledge. What I put into the soil, how I work the land, or how the produce is picked and packed - just ask. Whatever it may be, I am happy to share with you knowledge of how your veggies came to be, so you can make a comfortable and informed decision about what you eat and the effect it has on the world.
