You could say Sammer’s photography journey started at the age of 3 when he was given a plastic Fisher Price camera, but it wasn’t until he was 17 and studying graphic design that he invested in a real camera and started to take photography seriously.
In 2008 in the U.K. Sammer started his own photography business specialising in high-end residential developments. This was the start of creating a career out of his passion.
A couple of years later with his two loves; his wife and his camera, Sammer set sail for Asia and traveled to nine countries in nine months eventually ending in Australia.
At the age of 31 and in a new country, starting his career from scratch seemed like a daunting task but Sammer was determined to continue as a photographer and build up his client base once again. He worked as a photographer at a large portrait studio in Sydney, as well as weekends at a second studio.
Whilst these studios provided great work, both were always chasing new business and he could see the low referral rate was due to a lack of personal approach and the heavy price tag that came with the images.
In 2015 The Hero Shot was born and in under a year, over half of all Sammer’s business came from referrals, from people who had experienced his service first hand. In less than two years he had a client list that contained key industry leaders and was getting close to 80 five star reviews in Google.
Sammer had achieved what he’d set out to do and built a business based on the model he believed in.
Whilst best known for corporate headshots The Hero Shot covers a range of commercial photography including product, food, real estate and events with a solid base of customers to mention a few; CBRE, UNSW Australia, Sunglass Hut, Belle Property, Mortgage House, Century 21, Rawson Homes, Sekisui House.
The Hero Shot is more than a photography business, its Sammer’s passion and our customer reviews speak to this.
