Hello and Welcome to Handmade by Victoria.
My Name is Victoria Howe and I am the creator, designer and owner of Handmade by Victoria.
I am a mum of 2, George who is 2 ½ and Penelope who is 16 months, we also have another little lady on the way, arriving November.
My Husband Nick and I met at The Police Training Academy in the UK back in 2005, we served for 10 years and moved to Australia in May 2005. Nick continues to support us as one of the local cops in our home town of Manjimup, Western Australia.
My passion for crafts and restoration started when we moved into our first home in 2006, the cost to buy furniture and decor, re-decorate and improve the home were alarming. I would often say to Nick, "let’s not buy that I can make it at home". So I did.
I would also credit my skill and passion to my family, my Grandfather was a fantastic carpenter, my mother an upholster and my Uncle is an antique furniture restorer. My father-in-law is also a carpenter and has recently finished building a boat. Lets hope this is passed down further generations to our little munchkins.
To date I have made items as presents and for my own home, but it has been the encouragement from friends and family that has led me to start selling them.
I have loved receiving personalised gifts, no matter how many times we move or change the theme of the room, those special gifts always remain.
My love for vintage and antiques only developed as I got older, I kick myself when I think about the times I turned down ‘old fashioned’ furniture because it didn’t match my décor. I now can’t bare to see perfectly good items thrown away, when all they need is some TLC.
Taking everyday items new and old and turning them into something special gives me such a sense of pride and accomplishment.
So, I hear you thinking ‘If you can make it yourself, why can’t I’, well you can and I encourage you to do it. But like many who do not have the time, tools or skills required then please be reassured I will provide you with something handmade with love, made personally by me, it will be unique to you and hopefully something you will treasure forever.
