More about Hammer Forge Boxercise & Fitness

I have been a competitive fighter and trainer in both Martial Arts & Boxing for over 25 years. At the age of eleven I began Tae Kwon Do and within two years I had become the WA state champion and had defeated several national champions in the process. Just after my eighteenth birthday I began competing in Muay Thai and became a New Zealand champion within a year and later a x2 Australian champion when I moved back to Perth. When I enlisted in the UK military and completed my frontline deployments to Afghanistan I was fortunate enough to be selected for the Navy Boxing squad in HMS Nelson in Portsmouth where I both trained and competed for the next three years on a full time basis. To the best of my knowledge I am the only Australasian to have qualified for a position within the Royal Navy Boxing squad. My time in the boxing squad was a pivotal experience in both my development as a fighter and as a future teacher as much of what I teach today was learned during those three years. I have competed in Europe, Africa and throughout the UK and Northern Ireland and was the Royal Navy Cruiserweight Champion x3 and the Intermediate Combined Services Champion and the Open Class Combined Services Runner Up. I was also nominated 'Best Fight' in 2009 for my bout against the Army in the SAS/SBS Special Forces Charity Dinner at the London Hilton. When I was honourably discharged from the services I relocated to Bangkok where I continued to train and fight out of the Muay Thai Institute in Rangsit. I officially retired from fighting in 2012 and I have been teaching since then to people from all walks of life. Although my background is that of a competitive fighter when I graduate from my Cert III/IV PT course I don't want to restrict myself to only teaching combat proven doctrine to aspiring boxers/strikers and exclude those who have an interest in using boxing to get fit or otherwise. Some of the most talented and dedicated people I have trained had no interest in competing and only wanted to get in shape or just liked to learn boxing! It is my firm belief that people from all walks of life can benefit from boxing which is the most dynamic and effective forms of fitness in the world. Although boxing doctrine has it's place I often incorporate concepts & exercises borrowed from HIIT workouts, Bootcamp, Swiss ball exercises - you name it!
