Formerly Bute Police Station, the building was opened in 1911 and consisted of a residence for the Police Officer and his family, a courthouse, cells and horse stables.
Closed in 1974 and handed to the District Council, it was rented to council employees up until the Bute Lions Club members, with assistance from the SA Centenary of Federation Committee and the District Council of Barunga West, commenced extensive restoration in Feb 2000.
This resulted in a delightfully restored building, which now houses a gallery displaying historical memorabilia and a high quality art and craft shop.
Will also open on request outside stated days.
