Gundaroo Colonial Inn

The Gundaroo Colonial Inn is a Heritage Hotel located in the nostalgic town of Gundaroo NSW. Also known as Matt Crowes Wine Bar, the Inn has had continuous operation since it was established in 1872 originally as the Commercial Hotel. It is located just 15 minutes drive from the ACT border and 25mins drive to Civic.

The Inn provides motel style accommodation, a bar and restaurant and has a comprehensive selection of local wines and a take-out bottle shop.

The Inn's heritage building was restored using both recycled timber and locally sourced timber using a combination of Iron Bark, Red Gum, Black Butt and Yellow Box. Many walls and existing fireplaces have been preserved and given new Red Gum mantelpieces.

Some very special and individual features have been included in the restoration such as the Red Gum star inset in the restored Star Saloon Bar and the railings around the walls, made from the natural tree edge of Iron Bark. Visitors are made welcome at the bar, constructed from a huge slab of beautifully polished Iron Bark with a naturally formed timber edge.

The original slab built cottage has been transformed into a modern kitchen for Crowe's Restaurant. Crowes Restaurant serves generous portions of Australian cuisine as well as a wide selection of favourite hearty country meals.

The Stringy Bark Function Room is a separate area for functions, private meetings and gatherings. Our outdoor gallery has a large garden and covered area ideal for private and informal events such as weddings and special celebrations.

Our Red Gum Bottle Shop enables people to browse a wide selection of wines for on or off-premises enjoyment. We feature Canberra Reginald wines as well as boutique beer and cider, our locally made Village Cider is on tap.

The Inn is the perfect place to enjoy your get away to the country. Accommodation is motel style in a rustic atmosphere offering all the mod-cons to ensure your stay in Gundaroo is not only comfortable, but memorable.
