Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Green Monkeys cost?
Green Monkeys is run by volunteers for the community, not as a business. Therefore, we do not charge for you to come to Green Monkeys. However, a gold coin donation per child using the playground would be appreciated to help cover the cost of maintenance.

What is the playground like?
The playground is designed for pre-schoolers and features two slides, a tunnel, a bridge, a helicopter cockpit, spinners, punching bags and lots of ramps. At the front of the playground is a play area for smaller children with a Little Tykes playhouse and other toys.

What is the café like?
The café sells quality coffees, tea and iced drinks, as well as some light snacks such as biscuits and icecreams. All are for sale at very reasonable prices. There is also free filtered water.

Is there somewhere I can feed my baby?
You can feed your baby in the café or in the nursery. The nursery has a couch and a microwave for heating bottles/food. There are also some toys for small children in the nursery.

Why do my children need to wear socks and use a hand sanitiser?
Socks and the hand sanitiser are needed for safety, hygiene and cleanliness reasons. If your child cannot use the hand sanitiser we request that you make sure they wash their hands before going into the playground. We work hard to keep Green Monkeys as clean and safe as possible for your children and appreciate your assistance in keeping it clean. If you forget to bring socks you can purchase a pair for $1.50 at the registration desk.

Is there anyone to help me with my children at Green Monkeys?
You are always responsible for your own children but we try to have at least one volunteer in the playground with the children to help provide an extra pair of eyes while you have a coffee and meet some other parents. All volunteers wear a Green Monkeys t-shirt and have been police cleared.

Who runs Green Monkeys?
Green Monkeys is run by a team of volunteers from Portlife Church. We offer this playgroup to help parents/carers meet other parents in the Port Community. We know that raising children is not easy and that the more support you can get from other parents the better!

Please note: Clean socks must be worn at all times in the playground.
