ABOUT THE GROWING METHODS
1. Biodynamic Demeter and Organic Grass fed for their entire life, i.e. they are never fed grain.

2.Not grain fed to “finish” in the last months of growing

3.Supplemented with pasture hay, grown on our chemical free property. In very dry years we have to buy pasture hay from another grower. We always aim to source any off farm hay from other biodynamic of organic producers

4.No vaccinations

5.No drenches

6.No herbicides, pesticides or fungicides used on our farm at all, not since 1991 when Mum and Dad bought the property

7.Rotationally grazed to keep the cattle on clean, fresh, new pasture each day. This is easy from autumn through till late spring when the pasture dries off

8.Rotational grazing allows the paddock to rest, the plant to grow and the roots to spread out and down

9.Joel Salatin of Poly Face Farm terms this rotational grazing method as ‘mob, mow and move’. It mimics nature in that the cattle or sheep stay in a tight mob (or herd), mow (Graze) the area and quickly move on. Just as herbivores still do on some of the worlds great plains

10.Another benefit of tight rotational grazing and long pasture rest periods is that the high density of livestock, (sheep and cattle) grazing on a small area, being continually moved, is that the animals trample old manure into the ground which long terms actually helps add carbon to the soil.
