More about Granite Island

Take a short stroll or horse tram ride over the wooden causeway that connects the mainland at Victor Harbor to Granite Island Recreation Park. More than 700,000 people visit the park each year, making it the most visited parks in South Australia.
Granite Island, characterised by its huge granite boulders tinged with orange lichen, is home to a colony of little penguins. Take a guided tour at dusk to learn more about these animals that live and breed on the island.
Enjoy the coastal scenery and discover the island's interesting history along the Kaiki Walk or go fishing from the jetty, breakwater or causeway. Afterwards, relax in the café and restaurant overlooking Encounter Bay. You may even spot a southern right whale between June and October.
The Penguin Interpretive Centre on Granite Island looks after sick and injured penguins and is especially popular with kids.
