Just 12 kilometres from Mareeba, you discover the tranquil world of Granite Gorge, formed by Granite Creek swirling and tumbling through massive boulders, then flowing into great swimming holes and a waterfall.
The Nature Park sits in a 40 acre, breathtaking stone wilderness that is the natural home of rare Mareeba Rock Wallabies, echidnas, possums and quolls. It is also a bird watchers’ paradise.
The creek has both deep and shallow reaches for fishing and swimming. Take some time to sit and enjoy the awesome views while having a feed at our picnic tables or barbecues. Hand feed the rock wallabies, or stroll with your family on one of our walks. Be sure to meet Colleen, the owner who has lived here for 30 years. She can identify all of the fauna, and is a wildlife carer. There is no telling which animals and birds you may encounter.
Leashed dogs are welcome, both daytime and overnight. We have camping and caravanning sites, cabins and safari tents. Mobile phone, TV and wireless internet coverage are all excellent. The Park has ample toilets, hot and cold showers, barbecues and fire pits. Drinks and ice creams are available at reception.
