Godinymayin Yijard Rivers Arts and Culture Centre

The Godinymayin Yijard Rivers Arts and Culture Centre has been in development for over 12 years and evolved out of the desire of the people of Katherine to have a contemporary meeting place in which to celebrate, learn, create and share culture.

Godinymayin Yijard Rivers Arts and Culture Centre is uniquely positioned to provide arts development, presentation and educational opportunities for all sectors of the Katherine community and the wider region. It aims to showcase the cultural diversity and artistic richness of the region.

Underpinned by the ‘two way’ learning philosophy it aspires to become a ‘model for reconciliation’ in the community through the presentation of exhibitions and performances of Indigenous and non-Indigenous cultural expression together.

GYRACC is managed by the Katherine Region Cultural Precinct Ltd through its Board of Management. The Company was registered in May 2011 and is currently fitting out the new building ready for operation in July 2012.
