Myotherapy is a form of muscle therapy which focus on the assessment, treatment and management of musculoskeletal conditions, which may cause muscular dysfunction and pain thus affecting movement and mobility. A range of treatment techniques are performed by a Myotherapist to restore and maintain the normal integrity of the soft tissue structures (muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia).

Trigger points within muscles are an example of muscle dysfunction that can cause deep aching pain, local tenderness, referred pain limiting strength and flexibility. A Myotherapist will utilise palpation skills to identify trigger points and deactivate them using various soft tissue manipulation techniques. These modalities may include: trigger point therapy, dry needling, cupping, deep tissue massage, hot and cold therapies, passive/active muscle stretching, electro-mechanical stimulation and corrective or rehabilitative exercises.
