Allan is a third generation woolgrower from Tatyoon in the Western District of Victoria, gaining valuable experience and knowledge from his father and grandfather.
Allan’s passion for growing superfine wool, led to the purchase of “Glen Stuart” in Deddington, situated in the renowned superfine wool growing area of the Tasmanian Midlands.
Allan, Carol, and their three daughters moved to Tasmania in 1998.
The decision was made to also transport 2000 of their saxon merinos across the Bass Strait, to form the core of the Glen Stuart flock.
The diversity of the native pastures of Deddington, are perfect when matched with the Glen Stuart sheep, to provide the potential to grow a premium wool that would be desirable to the best fashion houses across the world.
Over the years the Glen Stuart sheep have thrived and continue to be improved. Wool quality is a priority, but can only be achieved by maintaining optimum sheep health, and managing the long term sustainability of the land.
