Gilbert & Co. Homewares is a delightful treasure trove tucked away along the Fleurieu Peninsula coastline.

The store is in its second year, owned and operated by south coast local Emma Gilbert. Emma is a 23-year-old fashionista and entrepreneur who, in 2013, sought to share her love of eclectic homewares, clothes and art with the world.

Gilbert & Co. was born, brought to life in a summer pop-up store right on The Esplanade at Encounter Bay, on the Fleurieu. Gilbert & Co. is a haven for anyone who loves colourful, coastal-inspired clothes and accessories, and this year, they have launched their exclusively online store to continue to bring you beautiful clothing and homewares throughout the year.

The lovely Emma’s bright and cheerful personality is reflected in every item she stocks. Stylish kaftans, unique statement jewellery, colourful vases, platter and bowls, woven baskets, floor cushions, quilts and throw rugs are all available.

An artist at heart, Emma also lovingly restores small and large furniture items and sells her own contemporary canvas art.

The drawcard for shoppers is Emma’s exclusive collection of high-quality, on-trend imported items. Sourcing pieces like woven rope bowls from Swaziland, seagrass baskets from Vietnam and embroidered clutches from Nepal, Emma strives to bring beautiful, unusual pieces to the south coast.

Gilbert & Co. is infused with Emma’s creative flair and passion for stylish wardrobes and homes. The young businesswoman takes inspiration from her seaside surroundings and translates it into a colourful and exotic store collection.

She says the best thing about working and living on the Fleurieu Peninsula is “there is a bit of a funky vibe, with cool upcoming cafes and markets on the foreshore which constantly encourages my creative streak and passion for my community”.
