GIFSA was established in 1991 by a self-help group to assist up to six families in need of respite. It have since grown to become a specialised provider of a range of services for people with disabilities in the Goldfields-Esperance region of Western Australia.
The Association is substantially funded by the State Government’s Disability Services Commission (DSC) and also receives funding from the Federal Government.
GIFSA is incorporated under its enabling legislation i.e. Associations Incorporation Act 1987 and is also a registered charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission.
The aim of GIFSA is to ensure that all people with disability, their families and carers have access to quality services that meet their individual needs that will lead to living a good life.
