More about Fremantle History Walking Tour

Take this tour to get a very good feel of how Fremantle has grown from a little colonial port and fishing village in 1829 to the international city that it is today, with it’s well preserved architecture and world listed Heritage Gaol.

The tour takes approximately two hours and covers approximately two ks which are walked at a leisurely pace and goes past many of the recognised landmarks of Fremantle.

Allen, (or Big Al), your tour guide was born and raised in Fremantle and has an extensive knowledge of the City so many of the tales that he tells are unique to this tour.

Allen has won the Fremantle Local History Award for unpublished essays on three occasions and two of those essays have been about the old hotels of Fremantle. Many of his tales are about those hotels which were so prominent in the life of Fremantle between 1829 and 1929. So the late afternoon tour is one that includes a couple of hotel stops on its route.

All tours start from the grassed area on Round House Hill, just near the ship artwork. The Round House being the prominent land mark building at the west end of High Street.

Allen hopes you enjoy your visit to Fremantle and he looks forward to being able to tell you more about his home town.
