Filmagic Productions

Filmagic Productions was formed in 1990 by Col Pax and Chris Hawkins who met while working at an Engineering firm in Melbourne.

Both men had an interest in film making on Super 8 and 16mm cine film camera formats. They started creating a series of comedy and VFX Sci-Fi sketches which progressed into Short films productions from 2000.

As time passed, the short film productions had increased in scale, professionalism while utilising micro budgets. Camera formats and production techniques have also changed over the last two decades. Analog camcorders, Digital HDVs, Full HD DSLRs and 4K cameras have been used.

Filmagic (pronounced Film magic) was originally about creating impressive visual effects on cine film using domestic camera equipment to impress family and friends. The home movie concept evolved over time and the short films became more dynamic and found different audiences through film festival screenings, film clubs, social media and online film distribution.

Filmagic Productions takes its home movies made on Prosumer equipment, micro budgets, volunteer and community participation to the next level of film entertainent.
