Fertile Strip is an inner city Sydney based company specialising in landscape design and project management for small to medium landscaping projects including new builds, courtyards, balconies and established gardens.

Fertile Strip Landscape Design and Management is led by Bernard Johnston, a qualified horticulturist and landscape designer with a background environmental management. Bernard has also worked as the Horticulture and Design Manager for ABC Gardening Australia Live events and as Horticultural Consultant for the popular TV program Garden Gurus.

Bernard has travelled extensively visiting the world’s most impressive gardens. He is also a highly skilled stone craftsman, learning the age-old skill in Italy and has designed and landscaped gardens in Sicily and the UK.

Bernard works closely with clients to bring ideas together to create outdoor living and greenscapes to suit the client’s lifestyle.

Fertile Strip Landscape Design and Management provides a range of horticultural and landscape design options to suit your property and budget. Our services include landscape design, project management, plant selection and planting, soil testing, pruning, waste removal, hard landscape construction and repairs such as walls, paving, and edging. We include a six months maintenance period post construction to ensure the greenscape establishes in its new environment.

Our plants and horticultural products are sourced locally from Rockdale Community Nursery, an organisation committed to providing social justice and equity to
people with intellectual disabilities.
