More about Far North Coast Australian Stock Horse Branch

The Far North Coast Branch was established in 1972 after several members travelled to Tamworth in 1971 when the first meeting was held for those interested in starting a breed society to recognise the Australian Stock Horse.

The first branch show was held at Bonalbo on the 14th March 1976 and since then has become recognised as a “must attend” Grade 2 Championship Show with competitors travelling long distances to participate. At the 2011 show there were 145 horses shown over the 62 events on the programme with competitors travelling from Pittsworth (Qld), south to Singleton and west to Wee Waa (NSW). It makes one very proud to see the high standard of quality horses being presented for judging each year and the overall improvement in horsemanship and presentation since the inaugural show.

Through sponsorship this branch has supported the Youth, State & National shows for many years as well as supporting other equestrian events run in their area.
Membership has steadily increased over the years and with a hard working committee, many of whom are foundation members who are prepared to work together to ensure that their branch members get every opportunity available to them to achieve their goals.
