Eshel Fine Kosher Catering

Eshel is well known around the Jewish Community of Australia for its family orientated friendly service Some of you will know a little of the history of Eshel, well before Eshel was created. Mrs Hofstatter, the Mother of Raizel and her late husband established their chicken shop on the old High Street, now St Kilda Road. The Business was then called St Kilda Kosher Poultry Supply and it was very well known to many of the Jewish Kosher consumers. The shop was an 'upmarket' establishment in those days and was well know for its fresh raw poultry, ducks and turkeys. Mrs Hofstatter then introduced barbequed chickens which have been a great hit back in those days, when NO kosher cooked items were available. Then came chicken clops, home style meat life back from the shtetl!

In 1975, Yankel Fogel, Mrs Hofstatters employee for 2 or so years, married the bosses daughter, Raizel In early 1980 Mrs Hofstatter, Raizels Mum retired and moved to Israel. She left the business in the capable hands of her young son in law and daughter Being young and fresh in the business, Yankel started to develop many new products with each one being a bigger success than the last. People were interested in buying finished, fresh and ready to eat products.

In 1985 there was already a big demand for Yankels' Kosher Catering and he started in a serious way to invest and build up the business

Eshel today

To date there would not be many kosher consumers who have not heard of Eshel - the name that the business was changed to in 1990.

Today there are 2 sons who have joined the business, Benzion who is in charge of catering functions and doing all the office administration. Bens' attention to detail is second to none and his service is always friendly and pleasant. Yos, the younger son is in charge of the shop and the ordering, his friendly service is known to all. No task is too hard for him as long as there is customer satisfaction. Coming into the Eshel establishment has become a weekly social for many!

Care means - listening to what the client wants to achieve for their special Simcha, helping them to achieve it, all the time holding their hand and giving them the reassurance they need. Our engagements are well known all around town. We organize the bar including mixed drinks, coffee machines, decorations and all the food that you could dream of. Our buffets are superb, people often comment that they are too nice to eat from!

Weddings


We have catered weddings all around Melbourne and interstate making the clients experience a memorable one. Not only do we have a large and varied menu, Eshel has become one stop shopping. From halls to décor, from flowers to music, from linen hire to matching bows on chairs and so much more. Eshels’ catering team is highly accredited for best service. If it’s important to our client it is important to us.

Bar/Bat Mitzvah

Bar Mitzvah and Bat Mitzvahs celebrations have become real fun and party time of recent years. Themes seem to be the going thing at the moment – and Eshel can help with any dreams that you may have and turn them into a reality. It always gives the Eshel team great pleasure to see the fun that families and friends have at these occasions.

Baby

We offer a large range of brit menus from a package on the run to a fully served hot breakfast with bagels, lox, omelettes and cappuccino and anything in between. We also do L’chaims for baby girls that offer everything pink, from the flowers, to the lolly wrappers, tablecloths and cakes.

Special Occasions

Eshel have helped to create many memorable simchos for people from all walks of life and for all sorts of occasions. We have done surprise engagements, surprise birthdays and even 1 surprise wedding!
What would you do if someone calls you and says - "I am organising a 50th for my wife and if she sees me in your business it will spoil it all!." So under cover we brought this client in and we created the best 50th for his wife. His wife had no idea and when she saw us she could not believe that we had it all wrapped up without her!!
We have catered all around Melbourne and Sydney as far and wide as the Dandenong’s and as high as the Eureka tower and back across town to Altona. The occasions have been numerous but one ingredient combines all our functions. We strive to give excellent service with a happy and positive attitude. Our reputation for tasty food is well known by most kosher consumers and ‘fresh’ is always our key word!

Corporate Catering

Corporate entertaining has become very established over the last few years with many people who only eat kosher wanting to be able to wine and dine their colleagues. We offer kosher packages at all the best hotels including the Hyatt, Hilton, and Melbourne Convention Centre. We are able to match any menu and guests have often commented as they watch the kosher meals being unwrapped, "how do I get one of those!!"

Business Dinners

Meetings and conferences are often held around food, with breakfasts, morning tea, lunches and afternoon tea being provided to all participants. It has become increasingly popular for all guests to be served kosher foods. Our board room lunches are quickly gaining rave reports as secretaries ring in to order gourmet sandwich and fresh fruit platters or any other requirements and special requests that their guests may have.

Hospital Meals

We have a large range of hospital meals that we supply frozen to hospitals around Melbourne. From breakfasts to dinners and in between we have it all. This includes a variety of nourishing soups, morning and afternoon teas and desserts. Hospitals just pop the meals into the oven or microwave, meals are packed according to the hospitals needs and the meals come out tasting as fresh as if they were cooked on the day. We can supply any hospital or aged care facility.

Shop

Our range of fresh kosher foods is readily available in our shop front. We have it all and if we do not have it we can create it. Shopping in Eshel on Fridays has become a really sociable experience - come and meet the crowds!


Gift baskets

Our tailor made baskets have become very popular as a gift item for many occasions. We have a range of biscuit platters, baskets filled to the top with goodies both homemade and packaged items, or even platters of cold meats decorated ready for the table. Rather than spending money on flowers, our clients have asked us to come up with ideas that are both pretty and practical. We now send out packages for births, engagements, weddings or 'just to help out'....We have had many inquiries from abroad too and people are delighted with our deliveries. Our busiest time for baskets is of course Purim where we could barely keep up with the demand. Groceries

We also provide groceries as a service to our customers. We have introduced a range of extremely well priced groceries for you to enjoy. Eshel has truly become a 'one stop shop'.
