More about Dwater

Legend has it, that Dwater was brought into the area in the latter part of the last century by well respected cattle and sheep breeder, Mr. Max Cox and his wife Joan, to combat a rabbit and fox plague.

Dwater would roam the hills “exteminating” vermin on Kurrajong and neighbouring properties, Yarramundi, Monavale and Merryvale. Vermin and many a brave man lived in terror as the dalek quietly and effeciently stalked the unaware in the dead of night, unleashing its deadly death ray.

After many years of accurate predation, Dwater had eliminated almost all the imported pests in the area – folk lore also tells of a few cattle rustlers and horse thieves being brought to justice as well by the efficient killer.

Towards the end of the century, Dwater’s blood lust could not be tamed as vermin were becoming scarce. Out of loyalty, the Cox family put up with the dalek killing the occasional sheep or working dog as it had done an amazing job with the pests. The end for Dwater came, when at full gallop, Mrs. Joan Cox had her favourite horse, Doctor, violently exploded from under her with a well-aimed death ray!

Burly local lads, including Joan’s brother Don Macansh, restrained Dwater while Max removed the fuel cell and control organism which were sent to NASA for relocation.

Dwater became a rustling lifeless shell.

In 2013 the people of Deepwater banded together to restore Dwater to some of his former glory as a monument to Russ the postmaster for doing such a great job.

Some say that when you open the top mail compartment, you hear the echo of ancient dalek voices.
