DRILL

DRILL is Hobart's youth dance company, founded in 2007 by Artistic Director, Joshua Lowe. DRILL is a prime driver for the development and provision of dance engagement opportunities in Hobart, working across a range of projects with local young people. The company works with both emerging professional artists and young local movers to create new and exciting dance works and is known for its ambitious, high-energy productions.

We aim to:

- Create opportunities for young Tasmanians to interact with professional artists, engage in a collaborative dance practice and gain holistic training as performing artists.
- Create opportunities that are accessible to all young Tasmanians and to attempt to remove or overcome barriers that limit free engagement and involvement.
- Use dance as a way of bringing a diverse group of young people together, strengthening ties within the community and engendering empathy, confidence, acceptance and strong work ethic.
- Support local primary and secondary schools with their dance curriculum and engaging more of their students through enriched arts programs.
- Provide a safe and inclusive community for young people to connect to.
- Activate alternative local spaces through the public presentation of work.
