Driftwood on Fraser

Driftwood has been designed and built to respect the natural environment of K’gari (Fraser Island) – traditional home of the Butchulla people. We are very aware of conserving and preserving Fraser Island under the guidelines of the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (part of Department of National Parks, Recreation, Sport and Racing) that manages Fraser Island as a World Heritage listed protected area to conserve its natural and cultural resources. The whole of the island is national park (other than freehold areas, such as townships) and is protected under the Nature Conservation Act 1992 and the Recreation Areas Management Act 2006 to the low water mark. Orchid Beach is a popular holiday destination on the northern part of ‘Heritage Listed’ Fraser Island, just off Queensland’s coast line near Hervey Bay.

Driftwood is a privately owned house available to rent in the Orchid Beach area , providing privacy and crowd-free seclusion with the option to simply kick back and relax whilst marvelling at the breathtaking scenery, or you can enjoy some excellent fishing spots at nearby Waddy Point, take a walk on the beautiful white sandy beaches, visit freshwater Ocean Lake, or go swimming at the renowned Champagne Pools. You can explore Fraser Island from Driftwood by foot or by 4 Wheel Drive. Fraser Island is the largest sand island in the world and the island’s roads are predominantly sand tracks or beaches. So if you want to get around, for practical reasons you’ll need a 4 Wheel Drive.
