Hi there, I’m Tess. I live in the Central West NSW (Australia) with my husband & our 4 kids.
I’m currently studying through Childbirth International to be a Birth Doula. I’m super excited to be on this journey (adventure!), and simply just can’t wait to complete my studies so I can get out and support many women through the wonderful experience that is birth.
It was after the birth of my 2nd child in 2009, when I decided I wanted to be a doula. I had a wonderful doula present at his birth, and after that amazing experience, I knew what I wanted to be.
I began my Doula studies in 2011, making very slow progress, and have just gotten over halfway. Despite not quite having completed my certification, I felt making a FB page would help give me that boost & motivation I need to get through the final parts. These final parts include; supporting an expectant mother through their pregnancy, birth & immediate postpartum period, and written communication ‘reflection’ assignment.
Birth to me is a miraculous, wonderful & beautiful experience, one that women should enter into not afraid, but prepared, informed & supported. That’s where I want to be, as a Doula, to help women feel completely supported by their choices, and to know that I will be there, whenever + wherever I’m needed. I’ll be there to comfort, to give emotional support, to nurture, to help prepare for birth and whatever you need during your experience. Completely judgemental free. I want to help empower you.
As well as being a birth loving birth advocate, I’m also a rather passionate breastfeeding advocate & activist.Once I complete my Doula studies, I will move onto becoming a breastfeeding counsellor, as well as a postpartum Doula.
