The Double Bay Public School P&C Association has launched a Facebook page that we invite you to connect with. Joining Facebook is voluntary and the comments posted are public. We welcome questions and comments from everyone, and ask that all interactions with Double Bay Public School P&C Association’s Facebook page reflect our school motto of ‘kindness & courtesy’. Overall, we are working together to achieve a positive, informed, and communicative school community.

Double Bay Public School P&C Association intends to use Facebook:

- as a method of connecting and collaborating with our school community
- to provide forums and feedback
- as a support to parents
- for information sharing of P&C related issues such as special events
- as a site where parents can ask questions relating to the Double Bay Public School P&C Association
- to help provide awareness of community activities, resources & local businesses that are of relevance to Double Bay Public School’s families
- as an opportunity for parents and the community to share ideas and suggestions

The Facebook T&Cs states that no one under the age of 13 years should have a Facebook profile. Therefore any interaction from a student’s own page on the Double Bay Public School P&C Association’s Facebook page will be removed. However we encourage our Double Bay Public School children, under parent supervision, to view our page and contribute to content. We believe our community’s conduct on our Facebook page will serve as role modelling for our students about how to behave in a social media environment.


MODERATION OF THE FACEBOOK PAGE

The Double Bay Public School P&C Association commits to watch & moderate comments on our Facebook page 7 days a week. Three volunteer administrators will be registered who receive e-mail notifications when anyone interacts with the page.

Double Bay Public School P&C Association reserves the right to moderate and filter any and all content on its social media accounts and to block users from interacting for breaches of our guidelines. Content which is inappropriate or that does not meet our guidelines will be removed. No further correspondence will be entered into for deletions and modifications of content made by the administrators on the Double Bay Public School P&C Association’s Facebook page


ADMINISTRATION

The Double Bay Public School P&C Association will be responsible for ensuring that the Social Media Code of Conduct is implemented. Double Bay Public School P&C Association’s Social Media Code of Conduct will be reviewed annually to ensure that it effectively reflects the needs of Double Bay Public School and current Social Media practices.

HOW DOES FACEBOOK WORK?

When an Administrator “Posts” onto the DBPS P&C “Wall” anyone who has “Liked” the page will receive notification on their “Home” page or “Newsfeed” and be able to see what is written.

When a person who has “Liked” the DBPS P&C page “Posts” directly onto the DBPS P&C “Wall” it will also appear on the Facebook page of all Administrators and all “Friends” associated with the person posting.

All “Posts” made directly to the DBPS P&C page can be viewed by anyone.

Administrators will receive notifications of all activity on the DBPS P&C page.

The Administrators of the DBPS P&C Facebook page reserve the right to remove any post deemed inappropriate.


PHOTOS

The DBPS P&C may on occasion “Post” photos of Double Bay Public School or DBPS P&C events that are already in the Public Domain and/or where permission has been granted. Where the photo features a minor, permission in writing must be sought from the minor’s parent or guardian before it can be posted. Written permission via email or other verifiable electronic means is acceptable.

The DBPS P&C reserves the right to remove any photo that is deemed inappropriate or in violation of a person’s rights or privacy.



RULES FOR CONDUCT & CONTENT

Observe the Double Bay Public School motto of ‘kindness & courtesy’.

No swearing or abusive language.

No personal abuse or attacks on anyone, ever.

No advertising for personal/private business, unless arranged through the administrators of the DBPS P&C Facebook page.

Anyone not abiding by these Rules will have their “Posts” removed and be given a warning. Repeat offenders will be blocked from the DBPS P&C Facebook page. A “repeat offender” is anyone who has been warned once for not abiding by these rules and offends again.

Anyone blocked from the DBPS P&C Facebook page may appeal to the page’s administrators by private message. Only a member of the DBPS P&C’s Executive Committee may decide to unblock a “repeat offender”. Any further transgression of these rules will result in being blocked from the page without warning and with no further opportunity to appeal.

DBPS P&C Executive Committee members and “Points of Contact” are not to be used to act as liaison between parents and Double Bay Public School to obtain personal information relating to their child/ren.

The DBPS P&C reserves to the right to remove or block anyone not observing the guidelines for conduct and content, at any time, without warning.
