Dawaah Association of Western Australia

The Daawah Association of Western Australia Inc - or "DAWA" for short - is a not-for-profit organisation. We are based in Cannington and have been here since 2001.

At DAWA, we believe that Muslims are a very important part of Australian society. Many Muslims were born here, and many others have come to call Australia home. We believe that Australia will flourish if we promote the authentic teachings of our religion, and if we encourage the practising Muslims, who will work for the betterment of their country.

We aim to follow the way of the early Muslim scholars to achieve the following:
* promote the practices and principles of Islam;
* introduce Islam to our fellow Australians with wisdom and good teaching;
* help Muslims in all matters concerning their spiritual well being;
* promote cooperation between all organisations with similar objectives to ours; and
work with the youth in our community, to help them uphold Islamic values and practise their religion.

We try to achieve our objectives by:

* organising lectures, seminars and talks about Islam;
* publishing and distributing brochures and audio-visual media for Muslims and others;
arranging short Islamic courses in different subjects;
* organising mosque tours for people interested in learning about Islam and Muslims;
* running large community events, such as the Eid Festival, where our youth can enjoy some halal fun.
