Creating A Difference

It is for these great virtues that I've been inspired to found the Creative Hatch and compile Creating a Difference - a guide for creative people who have limited business skills and financial understanding, but are full of ambition and talent. The objective is to present powerful business thinking for the benefit of creative and artistic people to start developing business and money knowledge that can be used to compliment their creative practice". The concept for this enterprise was originated from an invitation to speak at an entrepreneurial development workshop for creative people across the Pacific Islands, in February 2012. This Creative Hatch grew directly from my experience at the workshop and while interacting with artists from Pacific Nations. I realized that business concepts presented in the traditional format was difficult for creatively minded people to understand. I know that creative people get into business for very different reasons to normal business people and face unique issues in business. Naturally a better understanding would be achieved if the business concepts were presented in a way that was more aligned to the thinking of creative minds. This in turn would see the concepts put into practice improving the business sense of creative people. This is my hope and the inspiration behind business principles for creative people. My thanks to the talented artists involved in the workshop as well as the following organisations that provided the workshop; funded by the European Union, organized by the Secretariat of the Pacific Community and facilitated by the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat.
