Coonamble Challenge & Campdraft

The Coonamble Challenge & Campdraft first ran in 2015. The event involves an ASCA affiliated Stockman's Challenge event, plus a campdraft program.

The ASCA Stockman's Challenge concept is new to NSW and involves a dry work and a wet work section (check out more on our YouTube page), with the aim of developing soft, confident horses.

In the two years the Coonamble Challenge and Campdraft has been running, it has grown to attract premium sponsors and offer over $30,000 in cash and prizes. In 2016, it's second year, it attracted the largest number of Rookie entries ever in Australia, and attracted competitors from all over NSW, Qld and Victoria.

The Coonamble Challenge & Campdraft is run by a small but enthusiastic committee of horsemen and women who have banded together with the aim of creating an event that will go on to become the major challenge in NSW.

The event runs in March each year and features three days of competition, a dinner for competitors, sponsors and spectators, and nighttime entertainment.

The event is held at the Coonamble showground, with plenty of space for camping (RV friendly) and yards, plus stables if required. Coonamble is a small, vibrant town in north-west NSW on the banks of the Castlereagh River. It is a major livestock and grain growing area and is home to some fine horsemen and women, with many successful campdrafts held in the region each year.
