Consulate of the Republic of Mauritius, Perth

The Consulate provides consular assistance to Mauritian citizens living in or visiting Western Australia. It also provides information and advice to all who are interested in visiting Mauritius or doing business with Mauritius. The Consulate takes calls/enquiries by telephone and email at all hours but is open for personal consultations by appointment only.

Ian Whitaker was appointed Honorary Consul for Mauritius in Western Australia on 13 October 2011.

Ian was Senior Trade Adviser in the International Trade Centre of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Western Australia for 26 years until his retirement in 2013. Altogether, Ian had 30 years’ experience providing advice to exporters and importers on all aspects of international trade. He holds a degree in international economics from the University of Queensland and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Export and Export Council of Australia.

During his years at CCIWA, Ian was instrumental in the establishment of the Chamber’s International Trade Centre in 1992. He led and participated in trade missions to many countries including Mauritius, Sri Lanka, India and Africa. He also hosted visits to CCIWA by trade delegations from many countries including Mauritius.

Ian is married to Jessica and they have four grown children and four grandchildren.
