I have been collecting minerals for more than 30 years. My collecting habits are very eclectic, and I have specimens that may be common or rare, aesthetic or ugly, have a history, or perhaps that "je ne sais quoi", an intangible quality that makes something distinctive or attractive.
My collection has been built up through field collecting (mostly in my younger days!), trades, or from purchases at shows or online. I offer here specimens that are surplus to my requirements, be they replacements from when I have upgraded, duplicates, or simply excess material that I have acquired. Proceeds from the sale of specimens go back into my hobby.
You might notice that many specimens listed are small in size. A large percentage of my collection is this way. I am not a micromounter, but a collector of microminerals. Why? Storage requirements are less, perfection and rarity are a factor, and price. It does not cost a lot of money to put together a good collection. However, good lighting and magnification are a must.
