More about Colac Woodcrafters Guild

Colac Woodcrafters Guild started in May 1980. We are a not-for-profit group run by volunteers whose main aim is to promote all aspects of working with wood. Currently there are over 40 members, men and women of all ages and skill levels, from highly experienced craftspeople to complete beginners. The strength of the club are first, our more experienced members are willing to help beginners and second, the friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

The Guild has recently been awarded a major grant under the Victorian Men's Shed Program and will build its new permanent premises in 2017.

Our workshop is open each week day, 2 sessions when members can work on Guild projects or their own, often with supervision and support from experienced members and a session each for wood turning and furniture restoration. The 5th session is for machine instruction.
We also run a weekly Junior Woodwork Program. Numbers are limited to what the Guild can properly manage – 3 or 4 students at one time. We are delighted that 3 of our Juniors have recently entered into apprenticeships.
