Chookhouse Farmstay

We would love to welcome you to our Chookhouse Farmstay.

Chookhouse was a free range chook farm from early 1906's to 2012. Chookhouse has had only 3 owners in that time frame, we are the third. At the height of production they ran over 9000 birds.

Us 2012 -

We do not have that many chooks; we do have a selection of Heritage Breed chooks, Rhode Island Reds, Golden Lace Wyandottes, New Hampshire and my 2 favourites Barnevelders and Plymouth Rock. This is a small hobby for us. We also have geese, turkeys, peacocks, guinea fowl, pigs, sheep, goats and Alpacas.

The reason we have gone into this little venture is so people can enjoy a little bit of the bush on a small scale, get away from the hustle and bustle and explore the wonderful Darling Downs while have a wonderful place to put their feet up, sit by the campfire and enjoy the night sky.

Grassed area with fire pit. Friday night is fun night, campfire (weather permitting), music and you bring your drinks, we supply nibbles.

Come and watch the pigs get fed and meet Charlie our resident pet pig, watch the Peacocks and Guinea Fowl strut around, watch has we call up our small herd of sheep, lambs, goats and Alpacas for their night time accommodation - you can also assist with throwing out some hay for them. You may also be able to meet Stella and Knees personally.

Assist with feeding our collection of chooks, geese and turkeys.

Grocery shop 5 mins down the road, pizza can be delivered.

Bring your bikes and go for a cycle into Wyreema or further if you desire.
