Chikaminx

Chikaminx aka Jodie Richardson was born in South Australia, but spent her childhood travelling all over Australia before settling down in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. Jodie has been strongly influenced by the vibrant colours and morphing landscapes of the North-West, and this coupled with the technical background of her studies in Adelaide has aided in Jodie's artistic development.

Currently based in Derby in the Kimberley region of Western Australia, Jodie's primary mediums are soft pastels and charcoal but she has a keen interest in watercolours, oil paints, printmaking, silk painting, photography, and has even dabbled in sculpture. Her subject matter ranges from capturing human emotion in portraiture, depictions of animals, and landscapes with an Australian focus. She has a keen interest in classical art and life drawing, the human form.

Currently, works are held in private collections throughout Australia and New Zealand.

After an extended hiatus during which two new members were welcomed to the family (Cedar Gayle b. January 2011 and Matisse Alexandria b. July 2012), Jodie is now hoping that her new outlook and purpose in life can lend itself to some interesting new artwork.
